Been quite a busy couple of months around here. I moved from Bay Shore, NY, to Lindenhurst, NY, wrote a few articles, had family visit from out of town, and lost a close friend. With any kind of luck I will be able to post more regularly from here on out.
I'm a secular wedding officiant and the coordinator for the Long Island branch of Center For Inquiry. The opinions expressed on this page are exclusively mine, and not necessarily indicative or representative of any organization with which I am affiliated. Just saying.
I was born into a fairly traditional religious background. My experiences with faith and organized religion in general were mostly positive, and for that I am very grateful to my family.
As an adult, however, I had questions that theology couldn’t quite answer. The more I tried to understand faith, the more irrational it seemed. Finally, in the late 1990s, I realized I no longer believed in a theist god. I became an atheist and a humanist.
I believe fervently in compassion, understanding, respect, responsibility, and the power of rational thought.
